From Turkey's Peanut Capital — Roasted Without Salt
Osmaniye, a province in southern Turkey, produces roughly 90 percent of the country's peanut crop. The growing conditions there — slightly acidic sandy-loam soils, moderate temperatures, and a precise planting calendar from mid-April through late June — give the local peanut its distinct character. In July 2024, the European Union formally registered Osmaniye Yer Fıstığı as a Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) under Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2024/1889, making it the first peanut from Türkiye — and the first product from Osmaniye province — to hold EU PDO status.
The Kernel, the Roast, the Result
These are shelled kernels — the peanut removed from its pod before roasting — so every gram you receive is pure edible seed, not shell weight. The EU product specification describes how the inner seed coat naturally ranges from pinkish-light red to dark red in the raw state, transitioning to light or dark brown as the kernel roasts. The dryness of a clean roast carries into the kernel itself, giving the finished product an open, toasted flavour rather than a greasy or heavy one. No salt is added at any stage, so the roast character of the nut comes through unobstructed.
How People Use These
Unsalted roasted peanut kernels are one of the most versatile pantry items across many food cultures. They can be eaten straight as a snack; ground into peanut butter or paste with nothing added; folded into cookie, cake, or brownie dough; stirred through grain salads, noodle dishes, or stir-fries; used as a coating for confectionery; or crushed into a coarse topping for porridge, ice cream, or yoghurt. Because no salt has been added, they fit naturally into both sweet and savoury applications where controlling the seasoning matters — home bakers particularly value this for pastry and confectionery work.
Available in Four Sizes
The kernels come in resealable formats: 100 g for sampling, 250 g for household use, 500 g for regular snacking or baking, and 1 kg for heavy kitchen use. All sizes are available direct from stock.
