Tiryaki means "the devotee" in Turkish — and that is exactly who this tea is blended for. Çaykur, Turkey's state-owned tea enterprise headquartered in Rize, created Tiryaki for people who drink çay from breakfast until late evening and want every glass to taste strong, dark, and consistent. It launched with the slogan "Türkiye bu tadın tiryakisi olacak" — "Turkey will be addicted to this taste."
Inside the classic red-striped box: 500 g of loose-leaf black tea grown on Turkey's rain-fed Eastern Black Sea coast around Rize, where nearly all Turkish tea comes from. The label carries Çaykur's green DOĞAL (natural) mark — pure black tea with no additives, per the producer.
How Turks actually brew it: use a çaydanlık, the two-tier Turkish teapot.
