A spoonful in the morning, before tea, before anything else — that's how the Turkish kudret narı macunu has been taken for generations. Arifoğlu makes theirs the way Istanbul's old herbalists made it: real flower honey as the base, slow-pressed olive oil for body, and bitter melon extract carrying the unmistakable bitter-green note that gives the paste its name.
The texture is thick and pourable — somewhere between honey and a soft jam. The colour is deep amber-green. The first taste is honey, the finish is the clean bitterness of Momordica charantia. Two small herbal extracts — dill and Turkish reyhan basil — round the aroma without crowding it.
The full composition is honest and simple: 50% flower honey, 30% Turkish olive oil, 15% bitter melon (Momordica charantia) extract, 2.5% dill extract, 2.5% reyhan basil extract. No fillers, no thickeners, no added sugar — the honey carries the sweetness, the olive oil carries the texture.
Arifoğlu has been producing Turkish spices, herbs, and traditional pastes since 1956 in Istanbul. Their kudret narı macunu is sold across Turkey, exported to Germany and the GCC, and is one of the brand's signature herbal pastes.
How it's taken: One dessert spoon, taken on its own or stirred into warm (not hot) water, 20 minutes before a meal. Stir the jar before use — natural settling is expected.
