Toprak Doğal Ardahan Honey 300g - Pure Caucasian Highland Flower Honey

Ardahan honey comes from the high volcanic plateaus of Ardahan, a province in north-eastern Turkey that sits roughly 1,700 to 2,200 metres above sea level in the Caucasus region. Up here the summer is short and the bloom is intense, so the bees work hundreds of highland wildflowers in a compressed season. The result is a true polyfloral flower honey with a deep golden-amber colour, a soft floral aroma, and a rich, rounded taste.

This jar is gathered by the Caucasian bee (Apis mellifera caucasica), a real subspecies native to the high valleys of the Central Caucasus and eastern Turkey. It carries the longest tongue of any honeybee — a proboscis measured up to about 7.3 mm — which lets it reach nectar deep inside tubular mountain flowers that other bees cannot. Calm by nature and built for the cold, it is one of the reasons honey from this corner of Türkiye tastes the way it does.

Why Ardahan honey is prized:

• Protected origin: "Ardahan Çiçek Balı" (Ardahan Flower Honey) is a registered Turkish geographical indication, on the register since 1 June 2017.
• Highland wildflowers: drawn from hundreds of flowering plants growing across the Ardahan plateaus, not a single-source crop.
• Natural crystallisation: like genuine raw honey, it can set and turn creamy in cooler temperatures — a normal sign of minimally processed honey, not a fault. Stand the jar in warm water to return it to a liquid pour.

The texture is thick and smooth, spooning cleanly over warm bread, drizzling into Turkish tea or coffee, swirling through plain yoghurt with walnuts, or simply eaten on its own. Net weight 300g, in a resealable glass jar. Store at room temperature, away from direct sun, and use a dry spoon to keep it at its best.
