These are raw pecan nuts (Çiğ) — unroasted, unsalted shelled pecan halves with nothing added. No salt, no oil, no roasting, no preservatives: just the natural kernel as it comes out of the shell, with its buttery, mildly sweet flavour intact.
Pecans (Carya illinoinensis) are prized for their rich, almost dessert-like taste compared with most other nuts. This batch is grown in Turkey, where pecans are cultivated mainly in the Aegean and Mediterranean regions, and supplied as clean shelled halves ready to use straight from the pack.
How people use them. Raw pecans are versatile. Eat a small handful on their own as a snack, scatter them over salads, yoghurt and oatmeal, fold them into cakes, brownies, granola and energy bars, or use them as the classic topping in pecan pie. Because they are raw rather than pre-roasted, you can toast them lightly yourself for a deeper flavour when a recipe calls for it.
What's actually inside. A 28 g (1 oz) serving of pecans provides roughly 196 calories and about 20 g of fat. Most of that fat is unsaturated — close to 60% monounsaturated and around 30% polyunsaturated — and raw unsalted pecans are naturally sodium-free. Sizes. Choose 100 g to try them, 250 g and 500 g for regular snacking and baking, or the 1 kg pack if you bake often or share a household that gets through nuts quickly.
Storage. Keep the pack sealed in a cool, dry place away from strong odours, which pecans absorb easily. Shelled pecans keep well refrigerated in an airtight container, and can be frozen to extend freshness over the longer term.
