Koska's plain lokum is the purest expression of a confection that has been made in Ottoman kitchens for centuries. Soft, yielding cubes dusted in fine powdered sugar, with a clean vanilla sweetness and none of the distractions of colour or filling — just the texture and flavour that define lokum at its most honest.
The word lokum comes from the Arabic rahat-ul-hulqum, meaning comfort of the throat, and Koska has been making it since 1907. The family started as halva-makers in Denizli, moved to Istanbul in 1931, built their first factory in 1974, and now export to 74 countries across four continents. Their plain lokum is one of the most recognised in Turkey, holding Halal, Kosher, ISO 22000, BRC, and FDA certifications.
This sade (plain) variety contains no nuts, no rose flavouring, and no unnecessary additives — just sugar, corn starch, water, citric acid, and vanilla. It comes presented in Koska's signature hexagonal box with Ottoman-illustrated panels, making it as suitable to give as it is to eat.
