These are Aydın mountain figs — kuru dağ inciri — packed by Germencik Organik Pazar in the district that sits at the center of Turkey's fig country. Aydın province grows the large majority of Turkey's dried figs, and Germencik is one of its core fig-growing districts. Mountain orchards there grow slower than the lowland groves, which is the whole point: a slower fig builds a denser, more concentrated flesh.
Tear one open and you see what the photos show — a thin tan skin around dense, amber, honey-colored flesh packed with crunchy seeds. The texture sits closer to a soft confection than to the leathery figs in supermarket multipacks. That comes from the variety (Sarılop, the classic Aegean dried-fig cultivar, known for its thin skin and high natural sugar) and from the drying: figs ripen fully on the branch, then dry naturally under the Aegean sun over several days. No oven, no added sugar, no coating.
Big size here means the trade grade, not a marketing word. Turkish dried figs are graded by count per kilogram — large-size figs run roughly 36 to 44 figs per kilo, versus 50-plus for medium. Fewer, heavier figs per kilo means each one opens up properly for a cheese board, stuffing with walnuts, or eating on its own with Turkish coffee.
Available in 500 g, 1 kg, and a 3 kg pack for households that go through figs quickly. Store sealed in a cool, dry spot; if a fig firms up over time, ten minutes in warm water softens it and reopens the aroma. They also freeze well for up to a year.
