Fiskokrem is the hazelnut spread made by Fiskobirlik — the cooperative that has organised Turkey's Black Sea hazelnut growers since 1938. Turkey grows roughly 70% of the world's hazelnuts, with the bulk coming from the Giresun and Ordu provinces along the Black Sea coast. Fiskobirlik was built specifically to bring those hazelnuts from small family farms to products like this one.
What makes Fiskokrem different from most hazelnut spreads on the shelf is the absence of cocoa. This is a pure milk-and-hazelnut cream: roasted hazelnuts blended with skimmed milk powder (17%) and whey, sweetened with sugar, and finished with a hint of vanilla. The result is a lighter, dairy-forward flavour — closer to a milky praline than a chocolate-hazelnut spread. No palm oil. No trans fats.
Ingredients: Sugar, vegetable oil (variable amounts of hazelnut and sunflower), skimmed milk powder (17%), whey powder (dairy product), hazelnut (5%), emulsifier (soy lecithin), flavouring (vanillin).
