Growers in this region have harvested and sun-dried figs the same way for generations; the trimming, sorting, and grading is still largely done by hand.
What sets this product apart from ordinary bagged dried figs is the çukulat preparation: each fig has its stem and eye trimmed, then gets wrapped on its own — the way a fine chocolate is. The wrapping does three practical things.
