The beans come from Nyeri, a coffee county in Kenya's Central Highlands south-west of Mount Kenya, where volcanic soils and high-altitude farms have built one of the strongest reputations in African coffee. This lot grows at 1,350-1,900 meters, is harvested between February and March, and is washed-processed, the method Kenyan mills use to produce clean, bright cups. The AB in the name is Kenya's official bean-size grade: a mix of screen 16 (A) and screen 15 (B) beans, the most common grade in Kenyan specialty exports and often praised for concentrated acidity. In the cup, Espressolab lists blackberry, green grape, and stone fruit aromas over a medium-full body, with syrupy sweetness and medium citric acidity. It drinks like a classic washed Kenyan: juicy, fruit-forward, and clean at the finish. Brewing takes 2-4 minutes.
