Trileçe is a milk-soaked sponge cake with roots in the Balkans, where it became one of the most popular desserts in Turkey, Albania, and Southeast Europe before spreading to the Arab world. The name comes from the Spanish tres leches — three milks — and the concept is the same: a light sponge baked, sliced, then immediately flooded with a blended milk-soaking sauce so every crumb absorbs the mixture and the texture shifts from cake to something closer to a chilled pudding. The Balkan and Turkish version distinguishes itself from its Latin American cousin by finishing with caramel rather than whipped cream, giving it a deeper, slightly bittersweet note on top of the creamy base.
This Dr. Oetker kit brings the complete recipe into one 315 g box. The package contains the flour-and-leavening cake mix, the powdered three-milk soaking sauce, and a ready-made caramel sauce pouch — everything except three eggs, whole milk, and cream, which you add yourself. Bake the sponge in a 22 × 22 cm tin at 160 °C for 25–35 minutes, slice it hot, dissolve the soaking powder into the cold milk-and-cream mixture, pour it over the slices immediately, then refrigerate for at least two hours. Serve chilled, with a teaspoon of caramel sauce drizzled over each portion.
Dr. Oetker is one of the most widely recognized baking brands in Turkey and Europe, with a consistent standard across its product line. This trileçe mix is made in Turkey — the same formulation sold in Turkish grocery retail.
