Hafız Mustafa Candied Chestnuts are whole chestnuts slow-cooked in sugar syrup until they turn tender, glossy and deep amber, carrying a rich, naturally sweet chestnut flavour in every bite. In Turkish this confection is called kestane şekeri — the same tradition known in France as marron glacé, and long considered a specialty of Bursa, where chestnuts grown on the slopes of Uludağ are prized for candying.
The method is patient and unhurried. Whole chestnuts are simmered, then steeped in syrup over repeated stages so the sweetness reaches the centre without breaking the chestnut apart. The result is a soft, almost custard-like interior under a delicate candied surface — a sweet that has been enjoyed across Turkey for generations.
This is a Hafız Mustafa product, a heritage confectionery house founded in Istanbul in 1864 and known worldwide for Turkish delight, baklava and classic sweets.
